E-Max

E-Max

E-max crown is a full porcelain type. It can be used as a substructure and porcelain can be made on it, or it can be made directly as a single piece.

In which cases can E-max crown/bridge prosthesis be applied?

E-max crowns can be used on incisors, canines and premolars when veneers are required and for aesthetic purposes. E-max bridge prosthesis can only be applied in cases where a single tooth is missing. Is this method suitable for me if they cannot take an impression? With E-max, the impression is taken by scanning method in the mouth, so our patient is treated without gagging.

Are there full porcelain applications other than zirconium crown and e-max crown?
With the development of computerised design and manufacturing technology (CAD-CAM) in dentistry, many full porcelain materials have been developed.

What is the difference between zirconium crown and e-max crown?
E-max crown and zirconium crown are both aesthetic dentistry applications. Since the light transmittance of E-max crowns is higher than zirconium crowns, a more natural and aesthetic appearance is obtained in cases where E-max crowns are applied. Zirconium crowns are more durable than E-max crowns. In cases where more than one tooth is missing, zirconium bridge prostheses are applied since E-max bridge prostheses cannot be applied due to their fragility.

Why do zirconium/e-max prostheses have a better aesthetic appearance than metal-supported porcelain prostheses?
The substructure of porcelain crown/bridge prostheses applied routinely is a grey metal alloy. These metal-supported porcelain crown/bridge prostheses create a grey reflection in the gingival area, especially when they are applied on the anterior teeth. The gum looks grey. The reason for this appearance is that the metal alloy in the substructure of porcelain veneers dissolves and accumulates in the gingival area over time. In addition, due to the metal substructure, the light transmittance of porcelain decreases and these restorations (veneers) appear in a dull matte colour. Due to these aesthetic problems, the use of zirconium/e-max crown/bridge prostheses has increased in recent years. In full porcelain prostheses, veneers can be made entirely of porcelain material without a substructure or with a white substructure. In addition, since the light transmittance of full porcelain restorations is very close to natural tooth enamel, they create a more natural and aesthetic appearance.

Can zirconium/e-max dentures be used in individuals with metal allergy?
The use of metal-supported porcelain crowns in individuals with metal allergy may cause allergic reactions, full porcelain (zirconium/max) crowns eliminate these problems.

How is it decided which full porcelain system to apply?
After a detailed clinical and radiological examination of the patient and selection of the most suitable material, aesthetic applications are successfully applied.

How to maintain full porcelain crown/bridge prostheses?
Full porcelain fixed prostheses should be routinely maintained using a toothbrush and toothpaste as with natural teeth. The interfaces of the prostheses should be cleaned using superfloss type dental floss and interface brush. Annual routine dentist control should not be neglected.
