Many people value the aesthetic appearance of their teeth when smiling, but may delay cosmetic dental treatments due to fear of pain after veneers. Porcelain and zirconium veneers offer durable solutions that resemble natural teeth. With the right materials and workmanship, we can achieve excellent results. Nevertheless, sometimes our patients report experiencing slight sensitivity in their gums or teeth after veneers.
Sensitivity to hot and cold or slight gum discomfort in the first few days is often normal, as the teeth are reshaped and the nerves adjust to the new situation. This is just like the initial adjustment period for new shoes — it diminishes and disappears within a few days.
However, it is important to note that the use of poor-quality materials or crowns that do not fit well with the tooth and gums can lead to gum sensitivity, decay or chronic pain. With the widespread use of digital measurements and digital design work by technicians today, human error factors have been reduced to almost zero.
Remember: Mild sensitivity during the healing process is normal, but severe or prolonged pain, a stinging sensation while eating, or constant gum irritation requires proper evaluation.
Your smile is not just a veneer job; it is a matter of proper planning and quality application.
